Arbitrum DAO is holding a vote on implementing the BoLD protocol on its main chains, Arbitrum One and Nova. BoLD aims to improve security by enforcing a set dispute resolution period of approximately 13 days, with a 2-day intervention window. Open validator participation will distribute validation responsibility more evenly, strengthening network security.

The BoLD protocol allows anyone to participate in validation, eliminating dependency on specific validators and boosting overall security. By February 2025, Arbitrum One and Nova are expected to have BoLD fully implemented following successful auditing. This open system discourages malicious control and bolsters the integrity of the network.
