Bhutan plans to create a strategic cryptocurrency reserve to enhance economic resilience and probe into Bitcoin mining opportunities. The reserve will focus on MAJOR cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) to ensure liquidity and easy trading. This initiative reflects Bhutan’s growing interest in digital currencies.
Bhutan currently possesses around 11,688 BTC, valued at approximately 1.12 billion USD, and about 656 ETH, worth 2.2 million USD. The government has been investing in Bitcoin since 2019, primarily through domestic mining activities, demonstrating a substantial commitment to digital assets as part of its strategic initiative.
