A gang of British fraudsters, previously jailed for stealing cryptocurrency, must repay 30 million USD within three months or risk additional prison time. The fraud involved exploiting a CoinSpot exchange bug discovered by James Parker, who died before prosecution, leaving his accomplices to profit from the crime.
The significant increase in Bitcoin’s price has enabled CoinSpot to recover its losses, with an extra 3.6 million USD benefiting British authorities. The court revealed the lavish lifestyles the fraudsters led, funded by their illicit gains, including luxury cars and extravagant gifts.
