Despite the recent stagnation in total value locked (TVL) for Bitcoin’s decentralized finance (BTCFi), experts remain positive. Following a surge to 6.51 billion USD in late 2024, predictions estimate a potential increase of BTC locked in BTCFi to reach 47 billion USD by 2030.
Factors underpinning BTCFi’s growth include rising institutional interest, advancements in staking technologies, and enhanced infrastructure. Kyle Ellicott expects BTCFi’s TVL to triple in 2025, driven by activated staking protocols that have significantly increased Bitcoin’s utilization.
