Kaspersky discovered SparkCat, a new malware focusing on crypto users, hidden in benign apps like food delivery and AI chat applications. The malware scan phone galleries, targeting sensitive recovery phrases.

SparkCat has affected approximately 242,000 users, yet Kaspersky has not revealed the total financial impact of this malware operation. It highlights a concerning trend amid declining crypto-related malware instances.

The operation, suspected to originate from China, has specifically targeted users in Europe and Asia. The infected apps have since been removed from major platforms, including the App Store and Google Play.
