Russia has begun selling Bitcoin seized from the Infraud hacker group, starting with an initial batch worth nearly 10 million USD. The entire stash, accounting for BTC 1,032.1, faces legal complications for its sale. This move is Russia’s attempt to trade seized digital assets for fiat currency.
Marat Tambiev, involved in the case, received a 16-year prison sentence. Prosecutors are encountering legal challenges in fully liquidating the seized Bitcoin. Efforts are required to resolve these hurdles before entire assets can be converted into cash, as the sale of the remaining Bitcoin is proving complex legally.
