On January 14, the US, Japan, and South Korea released a joint statement cautioning against the increasing danger of CYBER attacks linked to the Democratic PEOPLE’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). North Korean hackers have successfully stolen significant amounts, including $600 million from the RONIN network.
North Korean cybercriminals are reportedly targeting private sectors to fund ballistic missile programs through illicit activities. The three nations aim to enhance cooperation between public and private sectors to prevent these thefts and recuperate stolen funds.
Data reveals a substantial rise in hacking incidents attributed to North Korea, with 47 breaches resulting in over $1.34 billion in stolen digital assets. This indicates a trend of increasing sophistication in their methods, with attacks yielding significant profits becoming more frequent.
