io.net is a decentralized GPU network designed to provide computing for machine learning (ML). It leverages over one million GPUs assembled from independent data centers, cryptocurrency miners, and projects like Filecoin or Render to access computational power.
Its goal is to combine one million GPUs into the Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN), creating an enterprise-grade, decentralized distributed computing network. By aggregating global idle network computing resources (primarily GPUs at present), it aims to offer artificial intelligence engineers lower-cost, more accessible, and more flexible network computing resource services.
io.net has raised $40 million USD from two rounds of private sales, with a most recent $1 billion USD valuation. This represents 36.24% of the genesis token supply and 22.65% of the maximum token supply. The Series A round was led by Hack VC with participation from Multicoin Capital, 6th Man Ventures, M13, Delphi Digital, Solana Labs, Aptos Labs, Foresight, Amber, Longhash, SevenX, ArkStream, Animoca Brands, Continue Capital, MH Ventures, Sandbox.
IO is a native coin of the IO.NET ecosystem, operating on Solana according to SPL standard, and can be used to:
- Payment Currency: Payments & transactions fees within the io.net ecosystem, such as purchasing / supplying underutilized GPU computing power, deploying GPU clusters.
- Staking: Users can participate in network security & earn share of idle GPU rewards, by either:
- Governance: The IO token enables holders to participate in the governance of the IO Grants DAO by proposing, voting on, and implementing grant proposals that guide the allocation of funds and strategic direction of the Internet of GPUs Foundation.
