Ontology was founded in November 2017 by OnChain, a Chinese company involved in cryptocurrency. Ontology is a high-performance Public Blockchain platform that enables businesses without extensive blockchain knowledge to quickly access and apply this technology. The goal of Ontology is to be a decentralized network that provides a comprehensive, trustworthy blockchain platform for businesses.

Ontology is intended to simplify businesses of all sizes to implement blockchain technology without drastically altering their existing systems. Ontology’s solution simplifies business processes and solves the majority of today’s problems, such as poor privacy protection, unknown data value mining, data management monopoly, and inefficient identity authentication.

Ontology employs Dual Token mechanisms, including the Ontology token (ONT) and the Ontology Gas token (ONG). Ontology Gas token (ONG) is a token that exists in the Ontology ecosystem alongside the Ontology token (ONT) and is used for the following purposes:

• Used to pay for gas within the network.
• Used to reward ONT staking users.
