ZetaChain is an omni-chain Layer 1 blockchain that focuses on fully chain-agnostic interoperability. It aims to unlock access across different blockchain assets, thus facilitating the onboarding of mass retail users.
Applications deployed on ZetaChain can access assets from any chain, including Bitcoin, from a single location. DApps on ZetaChain can interact seamlessly with other chains, ensuring their compatibility with future chain connections.
ZetaChain is a Proof of Stake (PoS) blockchain built on the Cosmos SDK and Tendermint PBFT consensus engine. As a result, ZetaChain enjoys fast block time (~5s). The Tendermint PBFT consensus engine has been demonstrated to scale to ~300 nodes in production. The throughput of transactions of the Tendermint consensus engine that ZetaChain uses can reach more than 4000 transactions per second (TPS) under ideal network conditions.
ZETA is a native coin of the ZetaChain ecosystem, operating on ZetaChain according to ZRC20 standard, and can be used to:
- Securing the DPoS of the ZetaChain consensus via staking/delegation/slashing.
- Anti-spam and ensuring fair and efficient use of blockchain resources such as compute and storage.
- Universal gas asset used to pay gas fees on multiple chains.
